The Bairro Árabe Walk
Join me on a 4-hour walking tour in the oldest neighbourhoods of Lisbon.

We will dive together into the muslim, arab and amazigh past of the city.

We will travel back in time to an era that is essential to understand today’s Portugal while debunking some myths.

Your Walk
The Bairro Árabe Walk happens every Friday morning.

We meet in Jardim da Graça at 10:00. We end up in Mouraria around 14:00.

I highly suggest that you check the FAQ section to know more
about the tour and the cancellation policy.

If you want to organise a private tour, have a special request or do not find the answer to your question in the FAQ you can send me an email to hajer@bairroarabe.com
Frequently Asked Questions

No-shows and cancellations made less than 24 hours before the start of the tour will not be refunded. Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the start will be refunded. The booking fees are not refundable. If the tour is cancelled by myself (the organiser), it will be fully refunded.

Children are welcome as long as they can alternately walk and stand for more than 3 hours. Given the length of the tour and its rather specific theme, I suggest that children should be at least 8 years old. Last but not least, the tour is free for children under 15.

Our four-legged friends have much better things to do than this tour :) I want all the participants to feel completely at ease during the tour. I do not know them in advance and thus prefer to avoid any situation that may create fear or physical discomfort to some.

The tour takes place in Alfama and Mouraria. In both neighbourhoods, the ground is mainly made of cobblestones which is not wheelchair-friendly. There are also steps to go down and short climbs during the walk. I can adjust the pace to go more slowly but most of the route cannot be changed.

My Lisbon's Favorites
I am often asked where to eat Arab food in Lisbon,
where to go for a one-day trip close to Lisbon,
which museum to go to if you have time to visit only one,
And so on.

I will try to keep an updated list with the answers to these questions in this section.
